Encouraging, equipping and empowering teachers with creative technology

Should school districts allow teachers to use Voice Thread in the classroom? They have created a secure network just for education called Ed.Voice Thread which is under password protection and control by the classroom teacher. What are the pitfalls for a district? What are the benefits?

YES teachers should be allowed to use this product! Just messing around with it I already brainstormed several activities/assignments that would be AWESOME with students. The cost to a school district for purchasing licenses is minimal and the site seems to be secure. Voice Thread offers a variety of options for uses with students and could really capture and engage students.

Pitfalls...as always - security. While it appears to be secure for students, as we know - security is always the issue that kills new innovative ideas at times.

Benefits...Growth of student engagement, interest, etc. It offers alternative assessments and an avenue for student creativity in a format students enjoy.

The more I investigate Voice Thread, the more I am excited by its potential and security.
